The
rain was short lived and had stopped by the time we crossed the main
road and were heading off down the A466 Wye Valley. The run down the valley seemed slower than usual but we hadquite a stiff headwind and heavy panniers which weren't helping. The A466 is a familiar route to me, the finish of many of the Welsh Audax rides, so the concept of not finishing the ride at Chepstow seemed quite weird. We had picnic lunch in the picturesque grounds of Tintern Abbey, and then began the climb out of the valley, followed by the descent into Chepstow and on to the Severn Bridge. |
