We
followed a diagonal route through the lanes via St.Newlyn East, to the
meet the B road to Perranporth.
The rest of the family were camped near Perranporth and the intention
was to meet up with them when we arrived. We rolled down the B road
which was very busy, past the campsite, and as we entered the town,
and rounded the bend by the entrance to the beach we met the others
coming down the track - perfect timing!
We
bought Ice Creams from the beach shack, and had hardly sat down when
the heavens opened and we ennjoyed a summer deluge. The Panniers on
the bikes filled with water and all was wet again.
We set off for the hostel, but the town was gridlocked as everyone had
left the beach. The few cars that were moving were good mannered and
courteous enough to ensure that we got further soakings as they sped
through flooded roads and deep puddles. It has to be said - Perranporth
has a nice beach but that apart the place is a complete dump! Probably
the busiest most congested, and generally naffest place on the ride!
