Cycling down the "Great Glen"

Glenmoriston stores.

Having had a good nights sleep in Malcolm & Debbies caravan, it was time pack and head off down the Great Glen. Mist was clearing and by the time we got on the road it was a hot sunny day.
We started off with a tail wind down the Glen but by the time we got to Invermoriston this had turned around to a headwind.

Fort Augustus - Jubilee Park.

Caledonian Canal
At Fort Augustus the weather was glorious so we stopped for picnic lunch and watched as the swingbridge operated and several boats travelled through the locks to the Caledonian Canal.
We pressed on down the Great Glen, taking in the scenery.
A few miles down the road we stopped in a garage for drinks and ice creams, and met two Danish lads, with a broken MTB frame. We had a look but nothing could be done so they managed to get on a bus to Inverness.

Loch Lochy.
We continued crossing the Caledonian Canal at various points. The scenery was idyllic, shattered only by hoards of load motorbikes hurtling down the road ad ridiculous speeds.
Eventually we started the gradual climb out of the Glen, past the war memorial and on down to Spean Bridge with views of Ben Nevis.
Time had moved on and we decided on a meal here rather than risk not finding anything at Glencoe. We had pizzas at the Little Chef which were unexpectedly good!
