It
was time leave Killearn.
It had been difficult trying to plan an easy route around Glasgow, and
we ended up following Johns recommendation to head East to Kilsyth via
the Gampsie Glen, and then turn South heading down through Airdre, avoiding
the suburbs of Glasgow East.
John
had the day off and rode with us for the morning as far as Kilsyth where
we bade him farewell, until we would meet up again in teh Lake District.
Some of the road signs were abysmal and we gradually picked our way
south, having picnic lunch at Airdre.
At
Carluke we cut down through the lanes across to the B7078 which is the
old A74, and desrted dual carriageway where you can cycle for miles
withouth seeing a car.
The
rain began as we ran through the lanes, and things got quite mucky through
some of the farms.
