Once
over the top it was a gradual downhill run towards Lairg. We stopped at the Crask Inn, - more like walking into someones house - a rustic and remote pub, where I tried a bottle of Black Isle Ale - different! Continuing through Lairg on the level, along the edge of Loch Shin we used the footbridge to get across to the road to the Castle. The steel bridge had a lot of steps, but cut of about 4 miles so was a worthwhile effort. We got the the hostel at 5pm. Quite a place, the entire building having been "gifted" to SYHA. The bike shed was in a huge cellar more like a dungeon accessed via huge wooden doors. The evening meal wasn't up to much although there were about three times too many puddings made so we cleared a few of those. We ate with a chap called Lol from Solihull who was doing End to End and then continuing on the the Shetlands. |
